Each year, the summer seems to pass by more quickly. While I tried to take advantage of those hot and humid days, spending as much time as I could outside, I always enter September feeling like it was never enough.

As always, there were too few beach days, too few campfires, and too few afternoons on the deck with friends. Luckily, Grey/Bruce is often blessed with gorgeous fall days and there’s nothing I love more than a warm September or October afternoon followed by a crisp, cool evening.

I vow to take advantage of our beautiful autumn weather, knowing how fleeting summer feels! I hope you can also find time to enjoy the fall season while returning to your regular work (or retirement!) schedules, the resumption of volunteering duties that were on hiatus during the summer, and your preparations for the long winter months.

In this issue we are excited to have share the story of Joe Slade, who completed a solo cycling journey of Portugal. Grey Bruce Public Health shares how community partners are helping keep our most vulnerable population safe, with an excellent article on what constitutes elder abuse and how to recognize the signs. Brush up on local history with the article by Grey Roots Museum & Archives about how Meaford became home to Canada’s tank training during the Second World War. Jill Ellis-Worthington shares her travel experience, along with tips and tricks in southern Florida, while LauraLee Giliberti tells us why growing older is a fine art in “Living outrageously.”

I hope you can take some time this fall to fully enjoy all Grey/Bruce has to offer!
